Announcement and Calls

The Euromech Fluid Mechanics Conference (EFMC8) aims at providing an international forum for the presentation of advances and research results in the fields of theoretical, experimental, computational, and applied Fluid Mechanics. The EFMC8 will bring together leading researchers and scientists in Fluid Mechanics from around the world. Conference delegates are encouraged to submit an abstract.Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to:

  • Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics
  • Boundary Layer and Free Surface Flows
  • Flow Instability and Turbulence
  • Aerodynamics and Gas Dynamics
  • Combustion and Reacting Flows
  • Plasma and Magneto-Hydrodynamics
  • Multiphase Flows, Non-Newtonian Flows and Flows in Porous Media
  • Stratified Flows
  • Micro- and Nano-scale Flows
  • Biofluid Mechanics
  • Decomposition and Sedimentation
  • Geophysical Fluid Mechanics
  • Coupled Flow Problems (e.g. heat transfer, flow-structure interaction, etc.)
  • Industrial and Environmental Fluid Mechanics
  • Flow Control and Diagnostics
  • Experimental Techniques and Instrumentation
  • Numerical Techniques and Simulation

Four mini-symposia are scheduled in the following topics:

  • Fluid-Structure Interaction (Convenor: Mathias Heil, University of Manchester)
  • Geophysical Processes (Convenor: Thierry Alboussière, LGI)
  • Reactive Flows (Convenor. Wolfgang Polifke, TU München)
  • Particle Methods in Fluid Dynamics ( Convenor: Jens H. Walther, DTU)

Abstracts must be written in English, no longer than one page, and submitted in PDF using the templates provided. A contributor may only submit and present one paper, but may be co-author on others. Please indicate in the description field on the abstract submission webpage whether you wish your abstract to be considered for one of the mini-symposia. There will be oral presentations only. No poster presentations are scheduled.

Deadline for abstract submission is March 26, 2010(Extended to April 11, 2010). Abstracts will be reviewed, and contributors will be informed by email on the decision of the Euromech Fluid Mechanics Conference panel by April 30, 2010.
